1) I think it is susceptible to sexual harassment because the men in the tech field believe they are superior to the woman. In the article it talks about how "89% of those making investment decisions at the top 72 firms are male." So I feel like the men realize this as well and they feel as though they can take advantage of the woman because of that.
2) In the past professional women didn't talk about it or confront them because they were afraid that it would do negative things to the company.
3)Something that could be done to prevent sexual harassment would be to close the gender gap that the article was talking about.

Great input, Lauren. We still have a long way to go in this country to make all people feel secure and safe in the workplace.

1. The tech field is suspectible to sexual harassment because nothing has been done about the issue. Men in the teach field think that they can do whatever they want and treat women as toys. Also, it said in the article that the men at the top are close and cover for each other. If no one speaks up nothing happens about the issue. The guys don't see a problem so it keeps happening. 2. Women have been quiet in the past about the harassment. They're career and image is a big deal and they can't risk it being damaged. "When you talk about sexual harassment in tech or in any other industry, it's like dropping a nuclear bomb on your career" women don't speak up because there's this fear of not being looked at professionally and what others might say. 3. To prevent this from happening you need to make it a topic to talk about and spread awareness. It's happened to too many girls and for too long. If you're suspicious about somebody when meeting up bring another member on your team. Preferably another guy.

1. no one has ever done anything about this topic because there are some people that didn't care back then and some do not care know and it kinda gets me mad that people are like that.2. they didn't say anything because they thought that it would affect the company in a negative way. 3. close the gender gap and some of the problem will end

1) Why is the tech field susceptible to sexual harassment?
I think it is susceptible to harassment because nothing has been done about it and men feel that they are more superior than women and treat them as so. In the article, it says that men make well over half of the decisions in investments in the top 72 firms.
2) How have professional women dealt with sexual harassment in the past?
In the past, women have kept quiet about the harassment that has happened to them and have not spoken out. They fear the reputation of the person they work for and don't want to lose their job, especially if they hold a good position at the place they work at. There is also the fear of not being believed and it's an incredibly scary thing. Another fear is that people just ignore the situation entirely and pay no mind to it.
3) What should be done to prevent these inappropriate behaviors in the future?
The buddy system is always a good thing to have, but if you are in a situation where you can not have another friend with you, you could make sure that interactions are in very public places where there is a chance for many witnesses. Another thing that can be done is addressing the topic. Many places don't like to talk about harassment because it makes them uncomfortable or they just don't like to talk about it. But I think that as we progress into the future and more and more people are coming out with their stories of harassment, more people are aware and it's a great thing. The more people there are that are aware of the situations at hand, the better because we, as a society, will know how to better combat harassment and assaults.

Why is the tech field susceptible to sexual harassment?
The tech field is susceptible to sexual harassment because no one ever does anything about it. Those men never face consequences to their disgusting actions and they know they are superior to women in their workplace so they really do not care about if they begin to talk.

How have professional women dealt with sexual harassment in the past?
professional women have dealt with sexual harassment in the past by keeping quiet about it. Those women fear that they could even loose their job if they speak and their reputation will become soiled so they just keep to themselves about it.

What should be done to prevent these inappropriate behaviors in the future?
To prevent these inappropriate behaviors in the future companies could spread awareness on this issue and have the women that been through it talk about it publicly to not only women but to men too so that they can see how bad actions like those can affect somebody.
